Privacy Policy

Last updated September 20, 2026

AI Witness is designed to help users preserve context around potentially important or unsafe situations while giving users control over what is retained.

This Privacy Policy explains what information AI Witness may collect, how it may be used, and the choices available to you.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on the features you use, AI Witness may process:

  • Account information, such as your name, email address, and account settings.
  • Audio data when you affirmatively start a listening or recording session.
  • Incident recordings and related data preserved when an incident is detected or when you choose to save an event.
  • Transcripts, summaries, and AI-generated analysis created from saved audio.
  • Technical information, such as device type, operating system, app version, IP address, diagnostic information, and usage information.
  • Information you voluntarily provide, including feedback, support requests, and early-access signup information.

AI Witness does not intend Listening Mode to function as continuous permanent recording. When Listening Mode uses a temporary rolling audio buffer, audio that is not preserved as part of an incident is intended to be discarded rather than maintained as a permanent audio archive.

2. When AI Witness Listens

AI Witness does not begin Listening Mode simply because the app is installed. You must affirmatively activate a listening session.

While Listening Mode is active, the app may temporarily process audio so that it can identify potential triggers and preserve context surrounding an event. Depending on the version and configuration of the service, this may include retaining a short rolling buffer and preserving some of the audio immediately preceding a detected or user-initiated incident.

No automated detection system is perfect. AI Witness may fail to detect an important event, may identify an event incorrectly, or may preserve audio that you did not consider important.

3. How We Use Information

We may use information to:

  • operate and provide AI Witness;
  • detect potential incidents and preserve relevant context;
  • generate transcripts, summaries, and other requested AI features;
  • maintain, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the service;
  • communicate with you about your account or the service;
  • prevent fraud, abuse, or misuse; and
  • comply with applicable law.

We do not claim ownership of your personal recordings.

4. Audio, Transcription, and AI Processing

Saved incident audio may be processed by AI systems and service providers used to operate features such as transcription, summarization, storage, or incident analysis.

AI-generated transcripts and summaries may contain errors, omissions, or incorrect interpretations. They should not be treated as a guaranteed complete or exact account of an event.

5. Sharing of Information

We may share information with service providers that help us operate AI Witness, such as hosting, storage, authentication, analytics, communications, transcription, or artificial-intelligence providers.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, legal process, or valid governmental requests; protect the rights and security of AI Witness, our users, or others; investigate fraud or abuse; or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of the business.

We do not sell personal incident recordings as a product.

6. Your Recordings and Your Control

Where the product provides these controls, you may review or delete saved incidents and associated information.

Deletion may not always result in instantaneous removal from every backup or system. Information may remain for a limited period where reasonably necessary for security, backup, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or other legitimate operational purposes.

7. Recording Laws and Other People’s Privacy

Laws governing audio recording, consent, surveillance, and privacy differ by jurisdiction and circumstance.

You are responsible for using AI Witness in compliance with laws that apply to you and the situation in which you use it. The availability of a recording feature does not mean that recording a particular conversation or person is lawful.

AI Witness does not provide legal authorization to record another person.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect information. However, no electronic storage, transmission, or processing system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

9. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, fulfill the purposes described in this policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the service and its users.

As AI Witness develops, more specific retention periods and user-controlled retention settings may be introduced.

10. Children

AI Witness is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Certain AI Witness features or experiences may be limited to users who are 18 or older.

11. Changes to This Policy

AI Witness is an early-stage product and its features will evolve. We may update this Privacy Policy as the service changes. When we make material changes, we will update the date shown at the top of this policy and provide any additional notice required by applicable law.

12. Contact

Questions about this Privacy Policy or AI Witness’s privacy practices may be submitted through the contact information provided on the AI Witness website.
